Me: E, do you want to video tape a message for Daddy? You can tell you we miss him, and you wanted to tell him that we made hearts the other day?
E: Yeah.
And here's the message....
And a message from M.

This evening...
As I was making dinner, E seemed to be taking an unusually long time in the bathroom. So while things were boiling and simmering, I ran back to see that she was okay. As I opened the door, I saw her squatting over a puddle, using my hair brush to "clean up" the accident. She shoved the door shut and yelled, "Mommy, don't come in here!" I had to finish with dinner, so I let her continue to "clean" without saying anything, and when dinner was on the table, I went back into the bathroom. She'd moved onto cleaning with a bath time sponge; "Mommy, I'm just cleaning." She started screaming and crying when I put her into the bathtub, and I made a comment, "Your dinner is all ready. Peanut butter meat, sweet potatoes, and peas." She stopped crying, was quiet, and then in a completely calm, normal voice, she said, "Pee pees. Peas....". (excitedly), "They rhyme!"

Me: Daddy's birthday is on Friday.
E: What number is he going to be?
Me: 31.
E: Thirty - one. I'm going to be three in November.

Our lunchtime conversation
E: You are my mommy. Daddy's my dad. And M is my sister.
Me: You are my daughter. M is my daughter, and daddy is my husband.
E: Yeah. One day, she's (pointing to M) gonna grow up and have a husband. And me, too. And we'll all dance in a castle. And I'll be Cinderella. I'll wear a white dress. I think M will wear a green dress. I think she'll be Tinkerbell. And you'll dance with Daddy, and then I'll dance with him....
And the conversation goes on and on, but I wasn't quick enough to write the rest of it down, and my memory stinks.

An evening conversation
After getting home from work, Matt asked E about her day.
Matt: Did you go to the park today?
E: Yeah. I pooped in my underwear.
Matt: I heard.
E: (completely serious) You heard me poop in my underwear?

Eatin' Time
This is M. when she eats. I'm not doing anything behind the camera. She simply loves food. She's definitely one of us.

This post's for me...
Lying in her bed, right after waking up from a nap.
E: Mommy, I love you.
Me: I love you, too.
E: You're my mother.
Me: I love being your mother.
E: I love being doggy's mother.

In our World of Pretend...
Three days ago, E came into the room and addressed me as, "Hey, Maleficent." (the evil witch from Sleeping Beauty). Yesterday, I kept hearing, "Hey, Stepmother". (from Cinderella). Finally, today, I have been referred to as, "Honey.", and I even got a "You're my best mommy." It seems I'm out of the doghouse. For now.

The Girls
Despite the pink princess bibs or pink stripes on her clothes, pretty much every stranger thinks M is a boy (which is 100% understandable, given she looks exactly like her Uncle Mark). Today, a service man asked E if she helped mommy with her little brother. E gave me a confused look, looked back at him and said, "It's a girl."

Goodnight Compliments
Giving good night hugs, E says to me, "You're a beautiful lady, mommy." She then turns to Matt and says, "You're a beautiful grandpa, daddy." Followed by, "You're a very nice man."

She is always cracking me up...
Our oldest daughter sometimes likes to pretend that she is Mary and pink doggy is baby Jesus. She informed me today after her nap that she was Mary and baby Jesus was sleeping. Then she said, "I picked him up, and he spit up all over the hay!"
Not 5 minutes later, she comes into the living room.
E(fake)whining: I hurt my, my, my...(thinking)...my finger.
Me (laughing, because she's obviously just trying to get my attention): How did you hurt it?
E: I hit it on....(thinking, thinking)..my other finger.
