As I was making dinner, E seemed to be taking an unusually long time in the bathroom. So while things were boiling and simmering, I ran back to see that she was okay. As I opened the door, I saw her squatting over a puddle, using my hair brush to "clean up" the accident. She shoved the door shut and yelled, "Mommy, don't come in here!" I had to finish with dinner, so I let her continue to "clean" without saying anything, and when dinner was on the table, I went back into the bathroom. She'd moved onto cleaning with a bath time sponge; "Mommy, I'm just cleaning." She started screaming and crying when I put her into the bathtub, and I made a comment, "Your dinner is all ready. Peanut butter meat, sweet potatoes, and peas." She stopped crying, was quiet, and then in a completely calm, normal voice, she said, "Pee pees. Peas....". (excitedly), "They rhyme!"

Finally, today, I have been referred to as, "Honey.", and I even got a "You're my best mommy." It seems I'm out of the doghouse. For now.

Despite the pink princess bibs or pink stripes on her clothes, pretty much every stranger thinks M is a boy (which is 100% understandable, given she looks exactly like her Uncle Mark). Today, a service man asked E if she helped mommy with her little brother. E gave me a confused look, looked back at him and said, "It's a girl."

Our oldest daughter sometimes likes to pretend that she is Mary and pink doggy is baby Jesus. She informed me today after her nap that she was Mary and baby Jesus was sleeping. Then she said, "I picked him up, and he spit up all over the hay!"

I think it was the week after Christmas that Else and I were in the store, and a short, older man with a white beard walked by, and Else pointed to him and happily exclaimed, "There's Santa!"

This morning we went to a local sewing / appliance repair store. The owner looked to be in his 90s, he had a bit of white stubble, and he was wearing a hat that was somewhat similar to a Santa hat (but not nearly as long and different colors). After we had been talking to him for about 5 minutes, Else said to me, "I want to see Mrs. Claus."

Matt had quite a difficult task of putting together my old bed frame. My very, very, very old bed frame. This was her reaction when she heard him yell from her room that he thought he had finally figured it out. To translate what she says after she walks in her room, she walks over to the bed and says, "I want up, please."

As you might be able to tell, she was pretty excited about her new bed. When she climbed on, she started pointing to the different colored stripes and naming all the colors, one by one. It was a challenge to get her to sit still for a picture!

She's never had any sheets or blankets before (just because it never dawned on us to give her any), and when Matt pulled the sheet and blanket up over her to tuck her in, she asked, "Where'd toesies go?"

We saw monkeys before seeing the pig, and if you listen closely, you can hear her talking about monkeys, and she makes a monkey noise. She's talked about monkeys a lot since this zoo visit. Our neighbors have a couple of rabbits in a hutch (is that the word?) outside their house, facing our house. We were walking in our house the other day, and she pointed at their hutch and said, "Bunnies! No monkeys.", shaking her head in disappointment.
